WHO IS BUILDERS FOR CHRIST?

Builders For Christ is a North Carolina non-profit corporation, committed to go any place in the United States to build church buildings in pioneer areas. We presently have over one hundred fifty-six members both male and female ranging in age from sixteen to seventy-seven. Seven churches support us with love offerings or include us in their annual budget. Thirty building suppliers have donated materials for the nine Parsonages we have built. Many of our members make sizable cash donations to purchase materials. We have built parsonages for the following churches: McCook Baptist Church in North Sioux City, SD (1994), Peytona Southern Baptist Church in Peytona, WV (1995), Canaan Valley Baptist Church, Canaan Valley, WV (1996), Huntersville First Baptist Church, WV (1997), Abundant Life Baptist Church, Triadelphia, WV (1998), Calvary Baptist Church, Belington, WV in (1999), and Hebron Baptist Church, Green Bank, WV (2000). Hillcrest Baptist Church, Spencer, WV in (2001), Faith Baptist Chapel, Beverly, WV in (2002), Brooksville Baptist Church in Bigbend, WV in (2003), Restoration Fellowship, Mt. Nebo, WV in (2004), and will build one for New Beginnings Baptist Church, Point Pleasant, WV in (2005)...

Builders For Christ was officially organized November 5, 1994. We received our non-profit corporation status December 31, 1994. We are governed by the membership, and elect Directors at our annual meeting in November of each year. Each supporting church is entitled to one Director and their Pastor is ex officio member of the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors selects three at-large Directors. The Directors elect their officers and act for the body between meetings. Members give one or more weeks of their labor on the site, as Bible School Teachers, Evangelistic Home Visitation, Community Missions, Preaching Revivals, Cooks, and Building the Structure. Members are required to pay their own expenses and carry medical insurance. We have been blessed to witness two hundred sixty-one people receive Christ as their personal savoir. The church receiving the building is asked to give what financial help they are able and furnish workers if available. The building is debt free when we turn the keys over to the church.

Builders For Christ has now developed a Parsonage Plan that is thirteen hundred fifty-two square feet with a one hundred thirty sq. ft. covered front porch that will be our standard plan for all future projects. This plan along with specifications will be presented for approval by the receiving church. There will be no additions or changes allowed due to the short time span of construction, which is aprox. eleven days. One of our members hauls the donated materials to the construction site and leaves his trailer until the project is complete.

You may ask why we are building Parsonages rather than Church Buildings. Churches in some pioneer areas are very small and cannot pay a Pastor enough to rent a house and feed his family, therefore they are unable to retain a Pastor. A church without a Pastor is unable to function properly. We are told there are one thousand fifty-two volunteer building teams such as ours in the United States and we are the only one that will build a Parsonage. People come to know the Lord by hearing and trusting His word. How can the people hear without a Pastor?
